The assignment and classification for the classes 1 - 9 of the ISO 14644 specification for airborne particulate cleanliness is technically unfounded and therefore inadmissible. In principle, there is no correlation between air purity and surface cleanliness. Knowledge of a number of other criteria is essential to implement cleaning procedures in the context of clean work techniques.
These include contaminants and their adhesion to surfaces as well as the usability performance of the cleaning cloth.
